Our Thames
The stretch of water OCUK trains on has a rich cultural and environmental heritage. There are hundreds of bird species, many different types of plants, interesting geological formations and, because the Thames is tidal, there are always fascinating offerings brought by the river throughout the day!
We are very proud to be custodians of the Thames and each month we clean a portion of the river from where we canoe.
We also have "artistic" excursions in the canoes, where we stop to photograph the river flora and fauna and to make sketches.
Many people overlook the built heritage along the Thames, but during the Great River Race alone we paddle under 29 bridges.
